Capital-Executive Ship Management Corp. takes delivery of newbuilding container vessel 'Buenaventura Express'
Piraeus, June 27, 2023. Capital-Executive Ship Management Corp. took successful delivery on June 20 of container carrier MV ‘Buenaventura Express’ from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. in South Korea. Celebrations for the naming of the vessel lasted two days.
The MV ‘Buenaventura Express’ has secured time charter employment with Hapag Lloyd AG for a minimum of 10 years.
With a capacity of 13,700 TEU, the MV ‘Buenaventura Express’ has a carrying capacity of 2,220 refrigerated containers, the largest in the world.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology aiming at reducing the environmental footprint, MV ‘Buenaventura Express’ combines advanced features, which result in a reduction in energy consumption of more than 35%, reduced carbon emissions, as well as a reduction of more than 85% of NOx & Sox emissions, compared to older generation container ships.
MV ‘Buenaventura Express’ operates according to the highest standards, including full compliance with future IMO EEDI Phase 3 specifications, and IMO Tier III operation along with the hybrid scrubber system and a complete alternative port power acquisition (AMP) system, also known as 'cold ironing'. The vessel is also LNG-ready.
Celebrations for the naming of the vessel, which was christened by Ms. Judith Kroon, lasted two days, between June 11-12, and were attended by Evangelos Marinakis, President & Founder of Capital Maritime & Trading Corp., Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag Lloyd, Jerry Kalogiratos, CEO of Capital Product Partners L.P., as well as K.S. Chung, President & CEO of HD Hyundai, Sam Ka, Vice Chairman & CEO of HD Korea Shipbuilding &Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. HD Hyundai Group and H.D. Shin, President and CEO of Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. During the ceremony guests along with Capital, Hapag Lloyd and Hyundai Heavy Industries management teams had the opportunity to tour the new vessel, attend tape Cutting, Horn Blowing, the Greek Orthodox Christian Blessing and learn more about the vessel’s characteristics and capabilities.
